Manners matter on the road – that’s why you probably don’t cut up other cars or splash passing pedestrians; because you do the right thing on the road, we make sure we do the right thing with your car insurance.
We won’t make you pay extra for things we think are essential
We’re all about protecting people, so all these things come as standard with our insurance:
- 70% No Claim Discount, for 5 or more claim free years
- 24-hour accident recovery service
- 8 days full policy cover anywhere in the European Union
- replacement car keys and even locks if your keys are stolen and there's a risk the car may be next (as long as you didn’t leave your keys in or on the car while you were away).
You can still buy optional extras if you want, but we think these things are essential so we won’t charge you extra for them.
If you’re involved in an incident, you can save yourself a lot of stress by knowing your policy has you covered. That’s what we aim for – a comprehensive package that means you don’t have to worry on the road.
Of course that doesn’t mean you can skip reading the documentation. It’s important to know exactly what’s included, and what’s not.
Optional extras for coverage that’s tailored to your needs
You can add these onto your policy when you’re getting a quote, so you can easily keep track of the overall price:
So you’ll never be stranded at the side of the road.
This only costs a little extra each month, just in case your car’s stolen and unrecovered or written off. Instead of a small vehicle you could get a saloon or hatchback the same size as yours, up to a maximum of 1.8ltrs.
For just £30* a year you get the same level of cover in the rest of the EU as you get in the UK (as long as each trip is 90 days or less). It also means you won’t have to let us know every time you and your car leave the country.
You shouldn’t have to pay out of your own pocket for an accident that wasn’t your fault. For just £25* a year extra you can get up to £100,000 of legal fees cover, making it easier to claim reasonable uninsured losses.

How to keep the cost down
Drive safe for a No Claim Discount
We work hard to keep our prices low and we give a 70% No Claim Discount if you’ve not claimed for five or more years. That’s because we want to keep and reward our safest drivers with a big discount, not a token gesture.
If you’re a young driver, get a Smartbox
If you’re a young driver, you’re probably paying the most expensive premiums, just because some young people drive recklessly. So with our Smartbox technology, you can prove you’re a safe driver and get your premiums lowered.
Keep your car off the road
You could also save money by keeping your car off the road in a garage or on a driveway. The type of car you buy can make a big difference too, so if you’re in the market for a new motor; it’s a good idea to get a quote on our website before you splash out.
When you’re tweaking the details of your policy, don’t be tempted to tell ‘white lies’ to get the cost down – this can invalidate your policy.
If, for example, you say a lower-risk named driver is the main driver when they aren’t, this is an illegal practice known as ‘fronting’, or that a vehicle does fewer miles than it does… It’s fraud and can leave you without insurance if there’s an accident.
Don’t cut back on the essentials
More commonly, you could decide to raise the excess or go without an add-on you need, like an Enhanced Courtesy Car. This can lower the price but it could leave you paying out more than you can afford if you’re involved in an accident.
So don’t be tempted by short-term savings if you risk losing far more in the long run.
You need to let us know if we make an incorrect assumption
We have to make some reasonable assumptions when you apply online. Otherwise the process would take far longer than it should. We might assume things like:
- you’re the main driver of the vehicle
- you’ve never been refused insurance
- the vehicle isn’t modified or imported
- none of the drivers have a disability or medical condition that the DVLA should, but don’t, know about.
