Make a Car Insurance claim

If you need to make a claim, we’ll reply to any letters or emails within five working days.

Once a settlement is agreed and you’ve sent us any documents we need, we’ll aim to send out your cheque within 24 hours.

Make sure you have these details handy:

  • the policyholder’s name, address and policy number
  • the date of the incident, how the incident happened, the location of the incident, the damage caused, property lost and details of any injuries
  • the registration number of the vehicle
  • the name, address and telephone number of the driver
  • insurance details if there is another  party involved (such as name, address, name of insurer and policy number, and registration number of car involved)
  • if you’re claiming for theft, malicious damage or vandalism then please have your crime reference number
  • if you have Enhanced Courtesy Car Cover, please let us know about anything specific you need (such as an automatic gearbox, a child car seat or a tow bar).

After you've called us, we’ll:

  • give you immediate help and advice
  • act quickly, as we promise in our claims commitments
  • contact the third party and help them out too, where it’s appropriate.

Co‑op Car Insurance is normally available to customers aged 17 to 75 years only.

Calls may be monitored or recorded for security and training purposes.
