We're proud to announce a 12-month Co-operative Insurance sponsorship of Dog’s Blog, a dog adoption website.
Did you know that it’s National Dog Adoption Month in August? The campaign to raise awareness of the month is led by Dog’s Blog. Launched in 2007, dogsblog.com is an online website that provides a match.com type service for rescue dogs and potential dog owners! The website receives over 285,000 visits a month and assists thousands of new owners to adopt an abandoned dog. Working with 315 rescue centres around the UK, Dogs’ Blog.com has helped to find new homes for over 21,500 dogs.
As part of the partnership, Co-operative Pet Insurance features prominently on all Dog’s Blog activities throughout the 12-month partnership both online and in affiliated rescue centres.
Sadly, dog abandonment is on the increase. In 2012 118,000 stray and abandoned dogs were picked up by local authorities alone across the UK*. Dog’s Blog provides really good matches through its search filters, like ‘great with kids’; ‘house trained’; ‘suitable to live with cats’ and so on. Finding the right dog for the right family means there’s a far higher chance of a happy home for both dog and owner.
Meet the Dogs
Dog’s Blog provides background on each of the featured rescue dogs – dogs like Rupert, a six-year old male Cocker Spaniel cross Labrador from Manchester, who came into care due to a change in his previous owner's circumstances. He is a very loving dog who enjoys lots of attention. He can be shy when meeting new people but is very friendly and gentle once he gets to know you.
There are also dogs like Rory, a three-year old male Border Collie from the South-East who is just smashing. Unfortunately, due to the ill health of his owner, Rory is seeking his forever home. He is house-trained, good with children (six and over), good with other dogs and loves his walks.
